Get spooked at Legends of Horror at Casa Loma

If you’re serious about Halloween, you need to check out Legends of Horror at Casa Loma. This immersive theatrical experience features classic horror icons — like Dracula, werewolves, Frankenstein, mummies, The Invisible Man and more!

About Legends of Horror

Put simply, Legends of Horror is promenade theatre at its best. If you go you will walk through a 2 km trail, at your own pace, making your way from the lower gardens through the bowels of the castle — including its tunnels and darkest places which are open to the public for the first time. It’s a fascinating and frightening trip through one of Toronto’s top tourist attractions.

This is the second year for Legends of Horror. Last year, the show wowed crowds of more than 3500 people per night! The creators of the show, Liberty Entertainment Group, have made it bigger and better this year. As Stacey Hawkins, Director of Marketing for Liberty Entertainment Group explains, “there are 75 actors throughout the experience, with a cast of over 100 in total participating.”

Audience members will walk through a variety of designed sets. There is no traditional set change — instead the scene changes as you move from one location to the next. The production also includes a 3D projection on the castle’s exterior wall, bringing it to life! For everyone’s safety, Ms. Hawkins adds, “guests are asked to stay on the path, not to touch the actors, sets or props and if they come in costume, they will be asked to remove masks to confirm identity and will not be permitted to enter with props or fake weapons.”

New for this year, an old Victorian House on the castle grounds has been transformed into a haunted house filled with 50 different animatronics, ghosts and massacre victims. This experience, as well as the show in and around the castle, is definitely not for the faint of heart! Stacey warns; “children 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult. We strongly suggest Parental Discretion however.”

Also new for this year, expect a special installation of Justice League. Visitors can celebrate the upcoming Warner Bros. theatrical release by venturing into an out-of-this-world setting. Here, guests can pose for photos with larger than life replicas of iconic DC super heroes like Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash. On October 24th, come in costume as your favourite character from the DC Universe for a chance to win tickets to advanced screenings, trips to the red-carpet premiere and more!

October tends to be a busy month, and Halloween is no exception. Decide which of your friends you want to invite to your Halloween party, and pick your date based on what works for them. For better luck navigating busy schedules, consider throwing your party November 1st.

Start with the snacks

Halloween is almost as much about food as it is about spectacle. This Pumpkin-Shaped Cheese Ball will be a hit and feed a crowd. Use store-bought crescent dough to make these magical Witch Hat Appetizers, which are stuffed with a savoury pesto chicken salad. For a sweet finish, try these mouthwatering Dark Chocolate Cupcakes with Meringue Ghosts. All of these snacks will pair well withHalloween Pumpkin Punch, an adult-only beverage that makes the most of the pumpkin flavour we can’t get enough of.

Don’t forget the décor

Skip a trip to the store and use everyday household items to decorate Wingreen Court Apartments for your upcoming Halloween party. Trash bags can be used to create creepy crawly spider webswhile mason jars are all you need to craft mood-setting Halloween Painted Jar Luminaries. Finally, print the template and start cutting to make flying bats for any blank wall.

A party game for adults

It might be enough simply to get your friends into one room. If the conversation is flowing, you may not need to plan anything else for your Halloween shindig. However, if you feel the need for a backup plan, Murder Mystery games are a blast with small groups. There are lots of ideas online to help you get started.

Healthy Halloween Treats

Healthy Halloween Treats

Halloween will be here before you know it! There will be lots of spooky and sweet treats to enjoy, as usual. If you are looking for some healthier Halloween treats for party at your Eastbourneapartment or simply to get you or your kids into the Halloween spirit, the Greenrock blog team has you covered. We’ve put together a list of spooky snacks to whet your Halloween appetite.

Chocolate Spider Web Cupcakes

These gluten-free, grain-free, dairy-free cupcakes are a healthier Halloween treat and perfect for anyone with food sensitivities. The best part is, these healthified treats actually taste great! The cupcakes are made with almond flour, coconut oil and unsweetened applesauce. The icing is made with peanut butter, honey, coconut oil and cocoa powder with a spooky spider web design you make by dragging a toothpick through the icing. This tutorial will show you how!

Frozen Boo-nana Pops

These Frozen Boo-nana Pops are simple and delicious. Simply slice a banana in half, lengthwise, insert popsicle sticks and freeze. Remove the frozen bananas from the freezer and dip in white chocolate, add a couple of chocolate chips for eyes and return to the freezer.

Snack O’ Lantern Fruit Cups

What could be more fun and healthy this Halloween than mini jack o’ lanterns made from hollowed out oranges!? To make these Snack O’ Lantern Fruit Cups, the first thing you need to do is slice the top off an orange and hollow it out (save the orange segments to re-fill the orange cup). Then carve a pumpkin face into the orange and fill it with diced fruit. Finally, replace the orange lid and serve.

Olive Snake

This fun and cute Olive Snake is a super easy snack to make. It’s not so much a recipe as a fun arrangement of olives in a row, like a snake. You can make snake eyes out of cheese and even a cute little carrot forked-tongue.
