After the winter that we’ve had, we suspect that there are more than a few parents with cabin fever this spring. We’ve pulled together a few great spots and ideas for fun play dates in North York. Being part of this family-friendly community means that there are lots of fun options to keep you and the kiddos busy. Here are the Greenrock Property Management team’s picks for favourites in the area.
Toronto Botanical Garden
If you have kids under 3 years old; the Sprouts Club program at the TBG is a great option. The next Sprout Club session kicks off on May 6 and runs every Monday until June 10. The programming includes accessible lessons on nature, crafts and songs. It’s a fun way for both kids and parents to make new friends. Register in advance, the cost is $70 Public and $60 Members (per session). Be sure to stick around after Sprout Club for nature stories and activities held at the Weston family Library. From the apartments at Wingreen Court, you’re a quick drive and an easy walk from TBG.
Ontario Science Centre
Music Monday at the Science Centre is your chance to be an awesome part of a worldwide event. Join in with kids across Canada as Commander Chris Hadfield broadcasts a concert live from the International Space Station. Along with the broadcast from space, the concert will also feature performances from local choirs, schools and bands. This is the first space-to-earth musical collaboration and the concert kicks off at noon on May 6 and attendees are encouraged to learn the official Music Monday song, I.S.S. (Is Someone Singing). Proceeds from this concert showcase support The Coalition for Music Education.
Before or after the concert, explore the exhibitions throughout the ten exhibition halls within the Science Centre. For programming tailored to kids under 8, the Centre also hosts KidSpark hands-on Activities. All activities are offered at no additional cost with admission to the Centre.
