Making the most of the Don River

The Don Valley and the Don River span over 30 kms from the Oak Ridges Moraine in the north, down south to Lake Ontario. This important watershed for the city of Toronto is also a platform for recreational and environmental conservation in the city. All too often, the Don Valley and River go overlooked so today we’ll look at great ways to enjoy the Don from your apartment at Wingreen Court.

There are a number of parks and paths that follow the winding river including: Binscarth Swamp, Helliwell’s Hill, Riverdale Park East, Glen Cedar and Lonsdale Wet Meadow in Cedarvale Park, Glen Edyth and Roycroft Wetlands in Nordheimer Ravine, and the Beltline Pond. The newest wetland site Beechwood Wetland was founded in 2002. There are many more wetland sites including Riverdale Farm Ponds and Ever Green Brickworks.
