Free family events to check out this summer

North York Festival


The North York Festival takes place on August 8th from noon until 10 p.m. This festival offers ten hours of family fun with amazing activities for everyone from children to seniors. There will be a free kids playground, food vendors, special community tents, free live music, song and dance competitions, a magic show and more. This free community event takes place at Mel Lastman Square. Mel Lastman Square is less than a ten-minute drive from Greenrock’s Wingreen Court Community.


Toronto Food Truck Festival


Looking for a foodie experience in Toronto? The annual Toronto Food Truck Festival is back for another year of stomach-expanding fun from August 1st until the 2nd from 12 p.m. until 9 p.m. There will be great food, cold beer, live music and even a children’s village. Admission to the festival is free and there is plenty of parking available. Bring the whole family down and take a stroll through beautiful Woodbine Park, sample food from around the country and enjoy the day.


Cultura Festival


Cultura Festival is a multicultural festival that features family-friendly music, buskers, international foods, kids’ activities and more. This festival is entering its sixth year and is one of the most anticipated events in North York for the summer season. The festival runs from July 3rd until July 24th and occurs weekly on Friday from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. There will be a wide variety of musicians, dancers, buskers, art installations and international food vendors available. Each evening closes with a featured film under the stars, displayed on a large screen in Mel Lastman Square.


Free Flicks at Harbourfront


Free Flicks at Harbourfront is a free event that offers family-friendly movie presentations from July 8th until September 2nd. This is a weekly event that will feature movies such as Raising Arizona, Stories We Tell, Boy and more. This recurring movie series takes place at the Toronto Harbourfront Centre.
