Community Profile: Wingreen Court

Greenrock’s Wingreen Court apartments are set on a quiet cul-de-sac in a great location in the Don Mills neighbourhood. But that’s the just the start with these apartments, today’s blog is a featured post on this apartment community that is ready to welcome new residents.

Don Mills is recognized as the first planned post-war community in all of North America. Just over 60 years ago, much of the Don Mills area was farmland. Its development is credited with laying the foundation for Toronto’s post-war boom and the contemporary look and feel of neighbourhoods built at the time. These days, the area is a bustling and well-known community that attracts residents looking for a family-friendly place to live.

Living at Wingreen Court, the Shops at Don Mills are just a short walk away. The Shops aren’t your average retail mall. Instead, they act as a community hub for this urban village. The shopping centre was built in the 1960s and began as an outdoor shopping plaza. It was renovated to become an indoor shopping centre but has recently been re-transformed into a modern outdoor retail centre. Don Mills is truly one of Toronto’s best shopping destinations and is home to stores such as Anthropologie and Coach. The centre also features a number of gorgeous restaurants such as a Bier Markt location, Mark McEwan’s FabbricaGlow Fresh Wine Bar and Joey Don Mills.

Each one or two bedroom unit in Wingreen Court offers a generous amount of living space and some of Toronto’s most affordable rents.  One bedroom units start from $830 for monthly rent, including both water and heat.  Apartments at Wingreen Court are always freshly painted and well maintained. The buildings have central and easily accessible amenities such as central laundry facilities available to residents 24 hours a day.

From Wingreen court, residents can take care of most daily errands on foot. Walkscore ranks this Toronto apartment community as very walkable with an admirable score of 73. Not a full-time car owner but still need wheels from time to time? There’s a nearby Zipcar car share location at the Shops to let drivers rent cars by the hour or even for longer term use.  There are nine nearby bus routes and the closest nearby stop is a quick three-minute walk away. Residents are also moments away from the spectacular Edwards Gardens and Sunnybrook Park with easy access to the Don Valley Parkway.

For groceries, you’ll find McEwan, a fine food store, just down the street at the shops. For day-to-day purchases, there’s an easily accessible Metro grocery store and additional grocery and smaller produce markets within a quick drive or by foot. At Don Mills and Lawrence, you’ll also find a 24-hour Shoppers Drug Mart. For the always important coffee run, there are a few great options at Don Mills and Lawrence Avenue East.  This includes a walkable Tim Horton’s, Second Cup and Starbucks.
