Summary

Green Group of Companies is currently recruiting for an Intermediate Accountant to join our team. The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for all aspects of accounting for corporate and family entities, including foundations and charitable trusts.

The Greenrock Corporate Accounting and Finance and Investment team provides a center of excellence for services in the disciplines of accounting, treasury management, acquisition and disposition transactions, corporate tax, capital management, investment management, risk management, financial data applications and business solutions for the organization.

Your solid accounting experience and technical skills will be critical for you to bring insights into our organization. You have always been committed to the idea of continuous improvement and service, and will collaborate with others to resolve issues that cut across teams. A strong communicator and natural business partner, you will liaise with functional teams across Greenrock and build relationships with our stakeholders.

Reporting to our Family Office Controller, this role is responsible for all aspects of accounting for corporate and family entities, including foundations and charitable trusts. This will include bank reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, overall general ledger maintenance, and administration as well as for ensuring compliance with the financial reporting calendar.

Your new position encompasses the following key responsibilities:

General Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the team responsible for the financial accounting functions
  • Weekly cheque runs, including mailing and filing invoices
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages and reports, including data analysis
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly HST reports
  • Prepare comprehensive electronic audit working paper file for corporate and family entities, and foundations/charitable trusts, including providing analysis and commentary to the Controller and/or external auditor for review
  • Preparation of monthly cash position reports
  • Track and provide bookkeeping for charitable donations made and received, and assistance with issuance of official receipts
  • Preparation of monthly investment accounting entries, and review of monthly fund statements, including follow-up with fund managers
  • Preparation of monthly inter-company transfers for distribution to property accountants
  • Administration as required

You are someone with:

  • Strong customer service orientation
  • A team player who is able to work in a fast paced, deadline driven environment, and cope with changing priorities
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude
  • Professional and conscientious; ability to work with and maintain confidential information
  • CPA designation or actively pursuing an accounting designation preferred (i.e., currently enrolled in a certified accounting program)
  • Minimum 1-3 years of accounting experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office - Word and intermediate to advanced Excel skills
