Take man’s best friend out for a day of adventure at Sunnybrook Park. The off-leash dog walking area is located in the heart of the park, with the entrance just off of Leslie Street. The dog park area is massive and completely fenced in with four double-gated entrances to keep dogs safely inside. This dog park also features a doggy water fountain, interesting trails and lots of sights and sounds to keep both you and your pooch entertained. Sunnybrook’s’ dog park has consistently been named one of Toronto’s best dog parks and it is definitely worth a visit for you, your family and of course your furry friend.
Explore the Trails
Sunnybrook Park offers some of the best biking and walking trails in the city for people who like flat (and fast) terrain. Starting near the horse stables at Sunnybrook Stables, head south along the park where it eventually connects you to open fields and trails that will take you past the Ontario Science Centre. The trails do get quite busy during the weekends, so if you are looking for a more tranquil ride you might want to visit during the week. The paths feature many trails perfect for both leisure riders and even more serious mountain bikers (the best trails for mountain bikers are found on the west side of the Don Valley River). Key access points to the trails are off Don Mills Road and off of Leslie Street north of Eglinton Avenue.
Sunnybrook Park is one of Toronto’s largest and most beautiful parks making it the perfect location for a family picnic and some fun activities. There are ample shade trees, water fountains throughout the park, hundreds of picnic benches, and plenty of BBQ grills available on the park grounds. Picnics are also the perfect opportunity to get in some fun physical activity. Sunnybrook Park has plenty of open green space available so why not bring a Frisbee, soccer ball or volleyball to toss around (and to burn off that burger and pop). Remember that if your picnic is going to exceed 25 people you will need a permit for the park. For picnic recipe inspiration check out ‘Country Living’s’ article on 57 Summer Picnic Recipes.
