Sweet treats near Village Green

Life in Toronto can be pretty sweet. There is so much to see, do, and taste, that it can be hard to know where to begin. Here are a few neighbourhood highlights for when you’re looking for some sweet treats near Village Green.

Crepe it Up

Crepe It Up is the inspiration of owner and manager Chris Lee. It all began in the legendary St Lawrence Market (91 Front St. East). Their location at 507 Church Street means their sweet and savoury creations are even easier to get your hands on! Their most popular options are the Paris X, with chocolate hazelnut sauce, banana, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. The *Chiquita Mix Fruit is another bestseller, with banana, strawberry, blueberry, pineapple, maple syrup or condensed milk, and a choice of ice cream or whipped cream.

Crepe It Up is all about you. Create your personal favourite by adding extra fillings or extra spreads. You can let them know if you want your crepe soft or crispy. However you choose to enjoy it, it’s made fresh, right before your eyes. No pre-made crepes or automated machines. This place is the real deal. Flat out.

Funnel Cake Express (8 Wellesley St E Suite 105C) takes the best part of the amusement park experience, the food, and isolates it for an amazing taste experience. The food is the entertainment here. Once you smell that batter cooking, you know you’re in for something special. It was established in 2005 and folks have been funnelling in ever since. Choose your funnel cake in one of three signature flavours — Steam Engine, Locomotion, and Bullet. Each one begins with the classic funnel cake, deep fried to perfection with unlimited icing sugar. The Locomotion adds your choice of fresh fruit topping, and the Bullet is the deluxe model. It comes with your choice of 8 flavours of soft serve ice cream. Their special Pride Funnel Cake or Deep Fried Rainbow Cake is a super sweet way to celebrate Pride Month.

They also offer Funnel Fries, Deep Fried Mars Bars, Twinkies, and even Deep Fried Butter!

Sorelle and Co. makes amazing desserts that everyone can enjoy. They are gluten-free, soy-free, sesame-free, vegan, nut-free, preservative-free, and flavour-full!

The concept was born by a mother whose 5 daughters all suffered from food allergies (“Sorelle” means sister in Italian). Their mother wanted to create a safe place where parents and families could celebrate special occasions, worry-free, with nothing off limits. Choose from their decadent selection of desserts without guilt or worry! They make cakes, cupcakes, brownies, macaroons and more, with a sophisticated take on healthier treats.

There are two locations to choose from, one at Saks Food Hall, at 176 Yonge Street (lower level), and their Yorkville boutique at 161 Yorkville Avenue. Note that no reservations are accepted at the Yorkville boutique, and seating is on a first come, first serve basis.
